Highlights for our undergraduate program include:

 

*Management is one of the most popular majors at UT with over 500 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in our programs.

*The UT Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) student chapter has been ranked #1 in the U.S. (out of nearly 600 chapters) for three years in a row.

*The Management Society at UT (MSUT) engages in philanthropic activities such as Mobile Meals and helping elderly Knoxville residents by delivering food and assisting them with housecleaning.

*Since 2011, three UT Management majors have been designated as Torchbearers—the highest honor that can be bestowed on a UT student.

*In a typical semester, the Department of Management offers 16 undergraduate courses,

 spanning 38 class sections, and serving over 2,000 students.

*Entrepreneurship and Human Resource Management have become popular collateral areas of study for our students over the past several years.

 

Highlights for our graduate programs include:

 

*The Masters in Human Resource Management program has 28 students. In addition, students from across the UT campus take our masters-level courses in HR Management.

*Management faculty members also teach courses in the MBA and Executive MBA programs.

*The Ph.D. program in Organizations & Strategy admits two highly qualified applicants a year. Our recent Ph.D. placements include faculty positions at Mississippi State University, Old Dominion University, East Carolina University, UNC-Charlotte, and LSU (Baton Rouge).

 

 Faculty research highlights include:

 

* Debbie Mackey was selected as the 2014 National Faculty Advisor of the Year by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). 

SHRM includes approximately 600 student chapters nationwide plus a membership of over 15,000 human resource professionals.

*Department of Management faculty members have published articles in nearly all of the top Management academic journals as well as articles in the premier practitioner journals. The research record of our faculty members has provided our department with national and international reputation

 

While we are pleased with the accomplishments of our faculty and students, we constantly strive to improve our programs and services.

 

As part of UT’s goal of becoming a top-25 public university, it is important that our faculty continue to achieve national and international visibility for their research and that we become well known for offering a quality educational experience for our students.
